Your 2 days Mount Bisoke hiking is a greater experience to explore the fauna and flora within this region. Mt Bisoke stands at 3700 m; it has the typical conic shape of a “perfect” volcano and in its crater lays a deep crater lake. The top of this Volcano has a spectacular crater lake. It is simply a 6 – hours hike including the 2 hours descending down to the starting point. Experienced hikers can get to the top of this mountain in a matter of 3 hours or even less and return to the base in about an hour. This is the 3rd highest mountain in Rwanda and is part of Volcanoes National Park. From the top of the volcano one can enjoy fantastic views over the other five volcanoes and the “twin lakes”. There is a crater lake near the summit and the vegetation is usually drier than in other areas of the Volcanoes National Park, with giant heather thriving on the volcano’s slopes.

Day 1: Transfer to Musanze

You will be picked upon arrival at the airport or at the hotel in Kigali and transferred to Musanze by your driver guide, the drive can last for 2 to 3 hours. You will have a lot of stopovers along the way as you travel. Morning flight is advised. Dinner and overnight at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel (Luxury) or Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge (Mid – range) or La Palme Hotel (Standard). Meal Plan: Dinner

Day 2:  Hiking Mount Bisoke

Today, you will be driven to the park headquarter at Kinigi at 7:00 am upon having your breakfast for briefing and you will later head off for hiking. The hike will typically take a full day from 6 to 8 hours depending on your hiking experience. During the climb, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats starting with bamboo forests, then moving into Hagenia – Hypericum forest and finally moving through Senecio – Lobelia bush near the summit. You will carry your packed lunch with you and some energy drink as well. You will later return in the afternoon. You will later be transferred Kigali to the hotel/ airport to catch up with your flight.
